Why I finally started a blog
Mandatory first entry, so that I have something up, instead of worrying and procrastinating about what should be the first blog entry. Let it be personal.
Not that I didn’t enjoy writing (say that to my 850+ notes), I somehow didn’t have the immediate urge to go through all the hassle of setting up a blog.
On technical side:
Until recently, I started (really) using AI, to make a personal library app hosted on Github, also understanding the basic workflow of making and deploying a website from a technical perspective, ALSO managing data models, having a pseudo backend without much cost or complicated setups, now I have the confidence to start a place for my writing.
AI? Starting in mid 2026? Why not earlier?
I’ve been playing with fun little web stuffs made by GPT 2.5/3 all before chatGPT made it mainstream.
Unfortunately, even located in the city where it heavily influenced the aesthetic of cyberpunk, somehow most major AI models still banned us from using it. Of course we use VPN to use them, but still.
Maybe it’s just an excuse, but it seems now it’s the best time for me to do it now, finally.
Why not just start a blog using all blogging platforms?
I can, but I a) wanted to own the pipeline, have full control of my content in terms of format, and b)keep the cost down as much as possible. I need really minimal setups at the moment.
On writing side:
I’ve been writing down a lot of my thinking, ideas, scattered across several folders, personal WhatsApp messages, Notion and so on.
Recently I started writing poems, and have nailed down five pieces of them. Perhaps I’ll publish them on here, or somewhere nicer.
Also putting your thought down in words, as I’ve realized, is a really nice gift to your future self after all. I urge you to do it, do it on your phone for yourself is enough.
That’s it for now. See what happens next.
